Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA.
Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 8-10).
Circa 1840, this beauty features a Rolled Rim, Inscribed Shoulder, and a Garland of Five Carnations. The carnations pin up the garland in a Lincoln drape pattern. Dark, rich cobalt. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind.
