Item 12228

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.

The form and decoration indicate that it is the work of Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Rim and Shoulder with Groove for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, and a Garland of Six Units of Large Brushed Cobalt Vining Around the Middle.  Very bold cobalt and lots of it on such a small jar!   Stands 8 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition. A flat 3/8" flake on top of the rim.  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A stone ping in one comma in the making.
