Item 12365
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Tulip Garland.
It is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and a Garland of Three Brushed Cobalt Sideways Double Florals Around the Middle. The cobalt is rich and shiny. Stands 8 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A couple small chips inside the rim (1/8", 1/4"), and a shallow 3/4" flake on the bottom edge, possibly in the making. That's it! No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
