Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar attributed to Richard Remmey of Philadelpia.

Richard Remmey made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Carefully Tooled Square Rim and Shoulder with a Deep Groove for Ease of Tying Down a Cloth or Waxed Paper Cover, and Three Brushed Cobalt Sideways Florals Around the Middle.  The florals have 4 leaves and a blossom with 5 to 6 petals each.  This is a very pleasing and identifiable Remmey decoration.  Stands 9" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A 1/4" chip and 1" surface ping line at the base.  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
