Item 11927
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fabulous 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Sipe & Son'" Williamsport, PA."
This is the mark of William Sipe and his sons who ran their pottery with this stamp from 1879-1893 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 62-63).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Triple Brushed Cobalt Floral. All three blossoms are different: a small one with four petals, a very large one with 7 large petals, and a small steeple flower with 6 dots. A "new species" I have not seen before portrayed on a Sipe piece. Stands 10 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Light scattered small stains on the back. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
