Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. S. Taft & Company, Keene, N.H."
This is the mark of James Scholly Taft and his uncle, James Burnap who sold pottery under this stamp from 1871-1874 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 39).
This beauty sports Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Huge Brushed Cobalt Leaf Decoration. The leaf it 10" across, accented with stripes, and executed with a slip cup in bright and shiny cobalt. Stands 14 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two chips on the spout (1/2", 1"). Otherwise, as made.
Ships double-boxed, insured, and FREE
Very Good Condition. Water glass staining inside and some traces outside, and some exfoliation on the underside. No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
