Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug whose decoration indicates that it was made by A. K. Ballard of Burlington, Vermont.
Alfred Ballard ran the family pottery from 1867-1874 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 46).
This beauty sports a Brushed Cobalt Stylized Dotted Floral. Stands 13 1/4" tall.
Good Condition. Two 1/4" chips on the right side by the handle, a 1/2" chip on the base, a 3" vertical hairline below the decoration (closeup 1), and an H-shaped hairline on the right side toward the back (closeup 2). No stains or restoration. A divot or pushin below the handle in the making.
