Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock made and stamped by "RCR".
This is the work of Richard Remmey made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Carefully Tooled Square Rim and Ringed Shoulder, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent, the Pottery Stamp, and Three Brushed Cobalt Leaves on Each Side. Measures 6 1/2" tall and 11 1/2" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Small nibbles and chips on the outer top edge, and a 1/2" chip at the base. No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
