Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jar Signed "R.C.R." for Richard C. Remmey of Philadelphia.
Richard Remmey ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century. (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Deep Groove so Wax Paper or Cloth Can be Tied Easily Over the Top, the Pottery Stamp, and Five Large Brushed Cobalt Leaves around the Outside. The leaves have 6 brushstrokes of cobalt each and the cobalt is bright and shiny! Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Three pinhead-size nibbles and two small chips (1/4", 3/8") on the outside of the rim. That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
