Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Jar Signed "R.C.R." for Richard C. Remmey of Philadelphia.
Richard Remmey ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century. (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Deep Groove so Waxed Paper or Cloth Can be Tied Easily Over the Top, the Pottery Stamp, and Four Large Brushed Cobalt Leaves around the Outside. The leaves have 6 brushstrokes of strong cobalt each. Stands 9" tall.
Very Good Condition. Four nibbles (1/8" to 3/16") and light staining on the rim, and a faint star hairline on the bottom. No inner rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
