Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar stamped "RCR Phila."
This is the stamp of Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Squared Rim and Shoulder, the Pottery Stamp, and Five Large Brushed Cobalt Leaves around the Outside. The leaves have 7 fronds and are executed in dark and shiny cobalt. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. Water glass staining inside. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, outer stains, or restoration.
