Item 13173
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Decoration.
The form and decoration make it easy to attribute this pitcher to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Rounded Rim, Tooled Shoulder, Bulbous Body, Rounded Footer, Applied Handle with Cobalt Accent at the Terminals, and Five Large Brushed Cobalt Leaves as Decoration. Two leaves adorn the sides of the rim and three adorn the body. Rich and shiny cobalt everywhere. Stands 10 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some scattered light staining. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
