Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this rare 1 Gallon Jar whose decoration is distinctive of the Hudson Valley Pottery of West 12th Street, N.Y.

This pottery belonged to the brothers Edward and John Roche who ran it from 1849 to 1858 when it was sold to Louis Lehman and then to William MacQuoid (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, pp. 61-62).

This beauty features a Flared Rim, Inscribed Shoulder, and a Tulip with Dotted Leaves and Petal. This was a design distinctive to the Hudson River Pottery.  Simple by commanding!  Stands 9 1/2" tall.

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.  Slightly out of round at the top and a narrow glazed chip on the bottom of the left side (closeup)-- both in the making.
