Item 7069
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Ovoid Jar attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA.
Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 8-10).
Circa 1850, this beauty features an Ovoid Form, Rolled Rim, Inscribed Shoulder, Small Footer, and Four Brushed Upright Tulips around the Middle. All four tulips differ from one another for lots of variety. Deep cobalt on a light gray glaze for maximum contrast. This is a very pleasing and identifiable Remmey decoration. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A small section of fine exfoliation and staining near the base (closeup). No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
