Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Superb 1 Gallon Wax Sealer Canning Jar made by "Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, PA."

James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).

Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Finely Tooled Grooved Wax Sealer Rim, Slightly Canted Sides, Top and Bottom Stripes, and the Company Intertwined in a Patriotic Shield with Four Stars at the Top, the Company Name in a Dotted Banner-- all with Daisies Framing the Outside.   Stands 9 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Wear on the inner rim and minor chips inside the outer rim.  That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.

A fine example of this patriotic sealer with light gray glaze, top and bottom stripes, and crisp stencil which is a desired combination not often seen.
