    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Ovoid Jar with Coggleband of Leaves. 

     

    It is attributed to Branch Green who founded a pottery in Philadelphia in 1809 and ran it until 1827 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, p. 7).

     

    Circa 1820, this beauty features an Ovoid Shape, Rounded Rim Characteristic of Early Philadelphia Stoneware, and a Tooled Shoulder framing a Coggled Decoration of a String of Leaves Accented with a Cobalt Stripe.  Stands 10 1/2" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  Small chips and nibbles around the base (1/4" or less).   No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
