Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Harrington & Burger, Rochester."
This jar is the work of Thompson Harrington and John Burger who worked together in Rochester, N.Y in the old Nathan Clark pottery from 1851 to 1854 when Burger bought out Harrington (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, p. 377).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Large, Bright Cobalt Tulip Decoration created with a Slip Cup in Bright Cobalt. Five leaves and a stem support the large tulip blossom with five petals. The entire decoration is accented with fine lines. Stands 12" tall.
Very Good Condition. Minor nibbles on the inner lid-seating ring, a 3/8" chip inside the rim, a 1 3/4" surface ping outside the rim (closeup), and three small chips in the underside at the edge (1/4" to 1/2"). No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
