Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 1 Gallon Stoneware Batter Jug made and stamped for "Binghamton, N.Y."
This is the mark of William Roberts, son-in-law of Noah White of Whites Utica Pottery. He founded a branch of the family business in Binghamton in 1848 and ran it until 1888 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, 71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Cobalt Accents at the Handle Holders, around the Base of the Spout, and on the Handle in the Back at the Bottom. Retains its original bail handle. Stands 8" tall.
Fair to Good Condition. A 1" chip on the rim behind the left handle and chips on the rim on the left side in the back with a 4 1/2" hairline below it. No spout or base chips, stains, or restoration.
