Item 11779

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Cute 1 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made in and stamped "Lyons."

This is likely the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp 73-74).

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent at the Handle Terminals, and Two Brushed Cobalt Leaves Surrounding the Capacity Number.  This decoration combines two used by Harrington= the larger leave and the smaller one with an acorn dangling below!  Bold, bold, bold cobalt.   Stands 9 1/2" tall.

Very Good Condition.  Chips on the inner lid seating ring on one side (inside picture), and light staining on the top in the back.  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
