Item 11774
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 4 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "S. Hart, Fulton."
This is the stamp of Samuel Hart who potted in Fulton, New York with this stamp from 1840-1876 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features a Larger Size, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Swipe, Freehand Capacity Number "4", and a Double Dotted Lovebird Decoration. This style of bird was a signature decoration of this potter. Bold cobalt! Measures 11 1/2" tall and 12" wide across the top.
Very Good Visual Condition. From what I can tell, the crock had a small chip on the left handle, some glaze flaking on the back and a short diagonal line through the decoration (closeup). Most of the exterior has been professionally repainted. I am selling it as a display piece.
