Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Tulips.

The form and decoration make it easy to attribute this jar to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Squared Rim and Shoulder, and Three Large Brushed Cobalt Tulips around the Outside. Each tulips has 13 leaves and a blossom with 4 petals.  Generous, rich cobalt on a light gray glaze makes strong eye-appeal.  Stands 11" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Eight small chips/nibbles inside the rim (pinhead-size to 1/4") and two adjacent flakes outside of the rim (1/8", 3/8").  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A stone  ping below one tulip in the making.
