    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Batter Jug made and stamped by "F. H. Cowden, Harrisburg." 

     

    This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden who ran the company with this stamp from 1880-1888 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58)

     

    The front features a Cobalt Floral Under the Spout and the back features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Snowflake Decoration.  Additional cobalt accents at the handle terminals and tipping handle.  Retains an old bail handle.  Stands 8 5/8" tall

     

    Good Condition.  Some water glass staining inside near the top, a 1/4" flake inside the rim, a 1" faint surface line outside the rim on the left side, chipping around the spout, a faint surface Y line to the left of the spout, and staining from use.  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
