Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "F. H. Cowden, Harrisburg."

This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden who ran the company with this stamp from 1880-1888 (For more on this pottery, see Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Very Elaborate Snowflake Decoration in Strong Cobalt.  Measures 9 3/4" tall and 11 1/4" wide across the top.

Excellent Condition. A 3/4" chip on the back at the bottom, and a very faint 2" hairline at the bottom of the left side that trails off on the bottom that is not visible inside.  That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A 3/8" chip-like imperfection inside the rim, and two short brown runs where iron in the clay melted--all in the making.
