Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "F. B. Norton & Co., Worcester, Mass."
This is the mark of Franklin Norton and Frederick Hancock who operated the pottery in Worcester using this stamp from 1858-1876 ("The F. B. Norton Pottery: Stoneware of Every Description." Worcester Historical Museum, 1980-1981).
This beauty features a Larger Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Large and Bright Parrot Perched on a Plume Decoration. This was one of Norton's signature decorations and is typically found with gorgeous cobalt like this parrot exhibits. The parrot is also large, being 10" from head to tail. Stands 15 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two tiny surface pings on the spout (closeup). That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
