Item 11341

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Decorated Jar made for "E. J. Miller & Co., Queensware, Alexandria, VA."

This jar was made in SW Pennsylvania, and I suspect by T. F. Reppert of Greensboro ( I have seen a couple of these jars with the Reppert stencil on the back ).

Dating around 1880, this beauty features Two Top and On Bottom Stripe that Frame Three Lines of Advertising in Turn Framing a Floral.  The capacity number flanked by leaves completes the decoration at the base.  Crisp and complete stencil in dark cobalt on a light gray glaze for maximum visual gratification.  Stands 11 1/2" tall

One of the best 2 gallon examples made for this merchant that I have seen in a long time.

Excellent Condition.  Three minor 1/4" nibbles on the bottom edge and a 1/2" chip on the underside at the edge.  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
