Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Cream Pot made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."
This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).
Thus beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Steeple Flower. The floral sports 6 leaves at the base, and a blossom with 9 sections of descending size. Measures 8 1/2" tall and 8 1/2" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Minor nibbles and three narrow chips inside the rim (1/4" to 1/2"), two 1/4" flakes outside the rim, a 1" chip at the base, and some scattered staining. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Slightly out of round in the making.
