Item 11454
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Attractive Decorated Stoneware Jar.
The form and decoration make it easy to attribute this jar to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Small Size, Tooled Squared Rim and Shoulder, and a Brushed Cobalt Garland of Leaves, Eight Buds, and Four Tulip Blossoms around the Outside. The cobalt is dark and shiny like we like it. Stands 7 3/4" tall.
Exceptional Condition. A flat 3/8" chip on top and a minor 3/16" nibble on the side of the rim, and a narrow 1/4" chip at the base. That's it! No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
