Item 5967

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.

This jar is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim for Tying a Cover Over it, and a Garland of 3 Brushed Cobalt Sideways Tulips Around the Middle.  The tulips have from 6 to 8 leaves and a blossom with 7 to 10 petals.  Rich cobalt on a light gray clay for an attractive contrast. Stands 10" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A 3/16" nibble inside and two outside the rim.   That's it!   No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
