    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Pitcher.


    This pitcher is attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9). 
     
    Circa 1860, this beauty features a Classic Form with Squared Rim, Tall Neck with Pinched Spout, Bulbous Body, Tooled Footer, Applied Handle, and Brushed Cobalt Tulip Decoration.   Five stripes accent the spout while two blossos with five petals grace the sides.  A garland of three tulips adorns the middle.  Additional cobalt accent at the handle terminals.   Stands 10 1/2" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition.  Four small chips around the rim (1/8" to 3/8"), a 1" hairline from the rim on the left side (closeup), and two chips on the footer (1/2", 1 1/2"). No stains or restoration.
