    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 1 Gallon Ovoid Jar whose decoration make it easy to attributed to Richard Remmey of Philadelphia, PA

     

    Richard Remmey ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century. (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

     

    Circa 1860, this beauty features an Ovoid Form, Tall Tooled Rim and Shoulder, Applied Grooved Handles with Cobalt Accent, Flared Footer, and Three Cobalt Leaves on Each Side.  Stands 9 3/4" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition.  Two 1/8" nibbles inside, and two 1/2" chips outside of the rim.  Some faint water glass staining from use.   That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
