Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Early 1 Gallon Ovoid Jug stamped "BOSTON." 
 
This beauty is readily attributed to Frederick Carpenter who worked in Charlestown, Massachusetts from 1804-1827 and made pieces marked "Boston" for that market. The "BOSTON" in all capital letters and the top and bottom brown iron oxide dip which he started using in 1804 indicate Carpenter's work (New research by Pete Schriber refining older research by William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 48-49). 
 
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Tooled Spout and Footer, Iron Oxide Dip Top and Bottom, and "BOSTON" in all Capital Letters.  Stands 11 1/2" tall.
 
Exceptional Condition.  As  made. No damage of any kind.  Typical manufacturing imperfections of the tim.
