Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon Blue and White Spongeware Lidded Salt Crock.  
 
Circa 1900, this beauty features a Tooled Top and Bottom Border, a Fancy Embossed "Salt" in the Middle, and Cut Blue Sponging.  The lid sports a fancy outer border of embossed scroll work and matching sponging.  Measures 4 1/2" tall and 6 1/4" wide across the top.  
 
Good Condition.  Professional touchup for scattered small chips around the rim (closeup) and a 1 1/2" hairline inside (closeup 2).  A 1/4" flake on the back of the holder and an 1/8" nibble on the base.  No hairlines, cracks, or stains.   The lid has three minor 1/8" nibbles and touchup for a narrow 2" chip on the underside edge.  No top edge chips, or any hairlines, cracks or stains.
