Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Snuff Jar made for "Appleby & Helme, 133 Water St., S. E. Cor. Pine." 
 
This is the mark of George Washington Helme and his brother-in-law, Jacob Appleby who ran a snuff business in Helmetta, N.J. from 1866-1877. Helme took over the entire interest in the company in 1877 (See Wikipedia, "George Washington Helme"). 
 
This beauty features the Snuff Jar Form, Tooled Rim, and the Company Stamp on the Shoulder. Stands 10 1/8" tall.  
 
Excellent Condition. Minor wear around the inner rim.  Otherwise as made.  A recess on the left side from a kiln touch in the making.
