Item 11987
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.
The form and decoration make it easily to attribute this jar to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA. He ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 8-10).
Circa 1840, this beauty features a Tooled Square Rim and Ribbed Shoulder, and a Brushed Cobalt Floral Garland that Travels All Around the Jar. The garland sports comma vining hosting four dangling flowers. Stands 8" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" flake on top of the rim, a 1/2" chip outside the rim, and minor nibbles around the base. No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
