Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 7" Stoneware Jar Decorated with Leaves.
The form and decoration make it easy to attribute this jar to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Small Size, Tooled Squared Rim and Shoulder, and Three Brushed Cobalt Leaves around the Outside. Stands 7" tall.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. A 3/8" chip on the rim and a 3/8" clay void by one leaf in the making.
