Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 6 Gallon Jar whose decoration indicates that it was made by R. T. Williams of New Geneva, Pennsylvania.
Robert T. Williams worked in New Geneva from 1882 to 1895 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 168-70).
This beauty features 6 Stripes Down the Front--3 Wavy and 3 Straight-- as well as a Large Freehand Capacity Number Flanked by 6 Dashes. Stands 16 1/2" tall.
Good Condition. A 3 1/2" chip on the rim on the left side, a 3/4" chip on the back of the left handle, a 1/2" chip on the right handle, a 2" hairline from the rim above the right handle (closeup 1), a 5" inverted y-shaped hairline on the back below the rim (closeup 2), and a surface-only 7" vertical craze line below the left handle (closeup 3). No inner rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
