    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock with Folky Decoration.

     

    The decoration indicates that this crock was made by Smith & Day of Norwalk, Connecticut. Asa Smith and his Cousin, Noah Day, potted in Norwalk from 1843-1849 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 58-60).

     

    This beauty features a Tall Rim, a Frilly Drape at the Top, Folky Floral in the Middle, and a Tornado at the Base.  Strong cobalt used throughout.  Measures 9" tall and 10" wide.  

     

    Very Good Condition.  Three chips outside the rim (1/4" or less), six small chips around the base (1/4" or less), and a tight hairline from below the rim in the back to the base that wraps under 3" (closeup).  Only the lower half of the hairline is visible inside.  No inner rim chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
