Item 8481
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar with Tulip Decoration.
The decoration makes it easy to attribute this jar to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Squared Rim and Ridged Shoulder, and Three Large Brushed Cobalt Tulips around the Middle. The tulips have 8 to 9 leaves and a blossom with 5 petals. Stands 12 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Scattered glaze flakes inside at the bottom, three 1/4" chips inside the rim, and two chips outside the rim (1/2", 3/4"). That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
