Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Salt Glazed Crock whose decoration makes it easy to attribute to the Edmands Pottery of Charlestown, Massachusetts.
Edward and Thomas Edmands who ran their pottery from 1852-1868 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).
This beauty features a Semi-Squared Rim, Applied Handles, and a Bright Cobalt Floral Executed with a Slip Cup. The floral has 8 Leaves at the base from which sprout 5 Stems, each with a blossom. Measures 8 3/4" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Five minor chips inside the rim (1/8" to 1/4") and a minor 1/4" ping on the right handle. Some water glass staining inside and traces outside from use. No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
