Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock attributed to R. J. Grier of Chester County, Pennsylvania.
Ralph Grier and family ran a pottery in Mount Jordan, Chester County, Pennsylvania from the 1840's to 1910 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 12-13).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Tooled Square Rim and Shoulder, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent around the Terminals with a Loop Below, and Four Brushed Cobalt Flowers Around the Middle. Measures 6 3/4" tall and 11 3/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip inside the rim.. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
