Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Butter Crock.

It is easy to attribute this crock to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Tooled Squared Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents at the Terminals and a Vine Below, and Two Cobalt Leaves on Each Side.  Bright cobalt on a light gray glaze for maximum visual appeal.  Measures 4 1/2 tall and 8 1/2" wide across the top.

Very Good Condition with Restoration. A dozen chips inside the rim (1/8" to 1/2") and a half dozen outside the rim (1/8" to 1/2").  Restoration to the end of one handle (closeup).  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or stains.
