Item 11672
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Yellow Ware Covered Salt Crock in the Peacock Pattern.
This salt crock was made by the Brush McCoy Company of Zanesville, Ohio. It was part of their "Nurock" line from 1911 to 1923. This line was advertised as "A Good Hard Burned Utility Ware Similar to Old English Rockingham" (Sharon and Bob Huxford, Collector's Catalog of Brush McCoy Pottery, p. 47). I have added a picture from the Brush McCoy catalogue advertising this piece.
On each side this beauty features a Peacock Walking Down a Brick Path Amidst Palm Trees and Exotic Flowers. Columns mark the divide between the two scenes. The exotic flowers are repeated around the lid. Rockingham overglaze. Measures 6" tall and 6" wide.
Excellent Condition. The base has a flat 1/4" flake on the very top of the rim on the left side and some light interior staining. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. The lid has minor nibbles on the underside at the edge. No top chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
