Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Yellow Ware Covered Butter Crock in the Peacock Pattern.

This butter crock was made by the Brush McCoy Company of Zanesville, Ohio. It was part of their "Nurock" line from 1911 to 1923.  This line was advertised as "A Good Hard Burned Utility Ware Similar to Old English Rockingham" (Sharon and Bob Huxford, Collector's Catalog of Brush McCoy Pottery, p. 47).

On each side this beauty features a Peacock Walking Down a Brick Path Amidst Palm Trees and Exotic Flowers. Columns mark the divide between the two scenes. The exotic flowers are repeated around the lid.  A light Rockingham overglaze which allows the decoration to shine through.  Strong mold lines too!  Measures 4" tall and 6" wide.

Excellent Condition.  The base has three minor 1/8" chips on the sides of the unglazed rim, and the lid has a 1/4" chip on the outside of the overhanging side.  That's it! No other chips or any hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A narrow 1/2" chip on the bottom of the base in the making where it touched another piece in the kiln.
