Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Wax Sealer Canning Jar from Southwestern Pennsylvania.
It is most likely the work of Isaac Hewitt of Rices Landing, Pennsylvania. He operated his pottery in the 1860's and 1870's (Phil Schaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 158-159).
Circa 1870, this beauty features 7 Stripes Down the Front, Alternating between Straight and Wavy. Stands 8" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip on the underside. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
