Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this unique 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "M. Tyler, Albany, Manufacturer."
This is the mark of Moses Tyler of Albany, New York used from 1834 to 1847 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 67).
This beauty features a Tall and Narrow Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Brushed Leaf Garland in Albany Slip on the Front, and, on the right shoulder, an Inscribed Flower and Fancy Letter "M." Stands 10 1/2" tall.
The M may indicate that Moses Tyler himself made this jug. The jug comes from the collection of the noted New York stoneware author, William Bouck.
Very Good Condition. Minor nibbles on the bottom edge and some staining from use. No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
