Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Stoneware Ewer Signed by the Noted Potter, Everette Busbee.

Everette Busbee (1943-2020) was a Renaissance man with degrees in English, zoology, art, and ceramics.  He was most active in making pottery in the mid-to-late 1980's. He is known for wood-fired stoneware and low-fired earthenware.  His pottery is found in both simple earth tones and in brightly colored pieces inspired by Spanish pottery of the Renaissance.  His pottery is found in the New Orleans Museum of Art; Gardiner Museum, Toronto; Scripps College, Claremont, CA; Nora Eccles Harrison Museum  of Art, Logan, UT; San Angelo Museum of Fine Art, TX; and the Kamm Teapot Foundation, Statesville, NC.

For more on his works, see www.themarksproject.org/marks/busbee.

This Ewer recently emerged from a very long time in storage.  As far as I can tell and among other influences, it is a Simplified Version of Korean Celadon Double Gourd Shaped Ewer from the Koryo Dynasty (918-1392) (picture included above).  Busbee taught English in South Korea for many years and its pottery influenced his designs.

This version has a mid-century modern futuristic look. It is signed on the bottom by the potter.  Stands 7 1/2" tall.
