Item 12989

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "Satterlee & Mory, Fort Edward, N.Y."

This is the stamp of George Satterlee and Michael Mory who ran this pottery together from 1859-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).

This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Splendid Large Bird on a Branch Decoration in Bold Cobalt.  Stands 13 1/4" tall.

Good Condition with Restoration.    Heavy chipping around the inner lid-seating ring, and two small 1/4" chips inside the rim and a 1/2" chip outside the rim.   Restoration for a 6" vertical hairline to the right of the decoration to near the base (closeup) and then 6" horizontally close to the base to the center of the back, with a turn under at the juncture of these two lines to a mainly surface web on the underside.  Not easy to see.  No base chips, cracks, or stains.
