Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "S. Hart, Fulton."
This is the stamp of Samuel Hart who potted in Fulton, New York with this stamp from 1840-1876 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp on the Shoulder, Freehand Capacity Number "2", and a Dotted Lovebird Decoration. This style of bird was a signature decoration of this potter. Bold cobalt! Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. Some glaze loss on the left side bottom and back bottom (closeups). No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A stone ping on the tip of the bird's tail in the making.
