Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "Riedinger & Caire, Poughkeepsie, N.Y."
This is the stamp of Philip Riedinger and Adam Caire of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. who partnered in stoneware from 1857 to 1878 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 65).
This beauty features a Tall and Slender Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Tulip Decoration. Stands 13 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A pinhead-size nibble and 1/4" chip on the spout. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some bubbles in the cobalt in the making.
