Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock.
 
The form and decoration make it easily to attribute this crock to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA. He ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 8-10). 
 
Circa 1850, this beauty features a Tooled Square Rim and Ribbed Shoulder, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent, and a Brushed Cobalt Floral on Each Side.  Each floral has 6 leaves and a blossom with 8 petals.  Dark and shiny cobalt was used throughout.  Measures 4 3/4" tall and 8 1/2" wide across the top. 
 
Good Condition.  Chips on the rim on one side as shown.  No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
